You Asked For My Advice
I will give you a Love Letter
by Lynda McKinney Lambert
It is OK to ask me for my advice.
I appreciate the trust you have in sharing an important question with me and I try to give my best advice.
Do I have all the answers? Certainly not.
This is my Love Letter to you.
Dear Friend,
I understand the need for guidance and help along the way. “We are all here to walk each other home,.”
I believe this truth for all of us.
Recently a friend asked me some questions for information she needs in pursuing her desire to write a book that would help others. Her goals for her creative life are big ones. She asked me for some advice on how to get what she needs to complete her ideas for her first book.
First Thought – Best Thought
You have an extensive agenda –
so you need some Supernatural help.
I continued:
Your request for help is far beyond me.
This is your quest and yours alone to do. You told me you talk to God every day. That is the best place to begin your quest for truth.
You require answers that will come through your conversations with God. He will show you what to do and lead you to what you need to know to do it.
My view is this:
Art begins at The Beginning of all that exists.
In the first chapter of Genesis in the Old Testament. Art begins as we read the description of Creation in the ancient texts. Take a few minutes and go read Genesis, Chapter 1 right now. Pay attention to what God is doing and what he is saying and WHO he is talking with. Who is here, in the chapter?
The Creator is depicted as He rejoices over the universe as He created every living thing for in that Creation.
This is the foundational core of my understanding.
I am a Pilgrim on a Life-journey . I am a Jesus Follower. Everything I am begins at this place in History with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
This is the worldview from which I work and live my life. This chapter in Genesis is my command center for my creative life. My foundation is here, and my focus is here on God the Almighty Creator. I see Him at WORK – as he SPOKE everything into life.
The purpose of each person is described by God at the time of Creation. That purpose has never changed.
We are created for HIS GLORY and to be a REFLECTION of our Creator.
We are created in His image – We LOOK like HIM.
Talk about a Big Agenda?
WOW
It surely is.
This is our purpose, our calling by God. It’s about a relationship with the Living God – we are created for that intimate relationship with Him. When we talk to Him, he responds. We know his voice from the time before we were on this earth. He knew us intimately before we were in our mother’s womb.
I think this is the kind of intimacy you are describing in your quest for your paintings? You seek to show the LIGHT – and definitely, God would be helping you as you are communicating with Him with your desires for your pictures and your willingness to share what you experience with others. You can be very direct and straightforward in sharing with others – in art and in life with everything else. I think the answers you seek will be found between you and God as you communicate together every day. Ask him, don’t ask others who are human. It is God who will lead you to His Glory in a way that you will be sure of. Just ask Him for the help in knowing where to go next or what to do, or how and what information you need in your book—one little step at a time. Don’t run ahead of Him. Wait on Him. Be patient, and the answers will come in ways that you will know it could not have come from any other source.
Whatever else we do in our art and writing is our unique, personal passion and our interest.
One Word for 2020
This year, I chose my One Word – GIFTS.
I decided that everything I write or make will be done as a Gift to the King, Jesus. As the Bible says, “In Him, we live, and move and have our Being.”
We live inside of Jesus – we are “seated with Him in high places.”
I think about reflecting His glory in all that I do. I believe that you are doing this in the ways of the painting you are describing.
I don’t think much anymore about self-help or getting wisdom from any person. I go to the core of who I am, and that is a creation of God, created for His glory.
If you need to find information on publishing your book, I recommend DLD books.
Here is the link to DLD Books – Information
The Dvorkins edited and designed the cover and layout for two of my four published books. –
David and Leonore Dvorkin will be working on the revision of my first book,
Concerti: Psalms for the Pilgrimage
I am creating the draft now. – This book was published by Kota Press in January 2003 – and traveled for 3 years with a National solo exhibition of my art. I wrote the book to accompany “The Trunk Show” of my artworks created in Europe during the summer months each year.
Readers around the world have contacted me after reading this book. I’ve received letters from presidents as well as everyday people who have enjoyed the book. I have felt the urging of the Holy Spirit to revise the book for several years. At this time, I am now working on the new edition with great anticipation and joy.
My deadline is to send my draft to DLD Books by the end of December. I am calling the revised and expanded version, Songs for the Pilgrimage.
When you are wondering what to do, as you have said to me, I think it will be helpful to take the time to have a conversation with God about it. This is my best advice and this is what I do with both large and small details of my life. Let’s face it, we all need Supernatural Help for each day.
Did you know there are OVER 100 passages in the Bible about MAKING ART? I’s say it must be of great importance for us to know about that, wouldn’t you? Art and Scribing are addressed together in most references. The Word is Art and the Word is writing. It’s fascinating to look at these references.
Look at Isaiah 64:8 (ESV/But now,
O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
I love it on those special nights when God wakes me up to give me help and Ideas for my writing or for my art projects.
Day and night, I am inspired by God’s Supernatural love as I work on creating my books, weaving my delicate art, and carrying out my everyday duties in my home and family life. My inspiration comes from reading God’s word, for that is where we find the answers we need. Imagine, for a moment, that the world we live in was created by just ONE WORD from God, in the Beginning.

My Love Letter to God,
I wake up with ideas that You whisper to me in my sleep.
I get inklings of knowledge about little things during the day.
I stop to speak with You throughout the day.
I don’t worry about my books – I just give them to You and ask You to take my words as a GIFT wherever they need to be. My desire is that people will find peace and be blessed by Your Presence as they read what I have written.
I only want to make one person happy – I want to know that one person smiled as they read something I wrote. This is all I want out of what I am doing. God, thank you for the little things I am learning as we walk this Pilgrimage together.
Your servant,
Lynda
