The Week in Photos – January 10 – 16, 2021
at River Road Studio
Welcome!
The studio is cleaned and ready for me to begin working.
My first project this year will be a series of TWELVE small wall pieces.
The collection will become the “Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring Series.”
I am beginning the series with 3 pieces that will be called, “Winter Wonderland”
Hello! Welcome to my River Road Studio.
Yes, just step inside.
My ceilings are very light green and walls are a Caribbean Blue.
My husband created this color for me. We spent many years in Puerto Rico in the springtime.
We created the feeling of the island in this room.
This is the place where I create mixed-media fiber art –
Here is the table where I do the actual work. The machine you see here is called an ACROBAT. That is a Closed Circuit TV – without this machine I could not do any of the work that I create. It is a live TV camera that is focused on my work and my hands. With the aid of the Acrobat CCTV, I can SEE the beads, needles, and materials.
As you can see, this room has paintings on the walls,
and art objects – everywhere. The paintings were done by me.
The enormous pots beneath the shelves were done by me. They are called, “The 3 Sisters.”
This studio is my place for making fiber art, and it is also a library.
I collect poetry and art books.
You will usually see a cat or two in my studio. Stretched out on the futon is Inca.
He was born a feral cat, and we managed to save his mother and
three of her kittens. Inca loves to hang out in the studio with me.
This is the view from my window.
I work at this library table and I enjoy the amount of light
that streams into my studio.
Here is Miss Opal. She is a “regular” in the studio.
Her specialty is watching over the studio and napping beneath the futon.
I like pottery and glass – so I have a lot of it in the studio.
My first project for 2021 will be a series of small works,
“Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring.

I lay out the 3 pieces that will become the Winter Wonderland Series.
This fabric is softly colored with grey on white to give a feeling of winter snow.
I thought it would be perfect for the background for “Winter.”
Beneath each piece of fabric here, is a layer of
Laceys Stiff Stuff.
That will give the fabric a solid backing.
I will build up layers of bead work, gemstones, and found objects.

Place cabochons and coral on the fabric –
I use E600 to hold them down so I can begin the beadwork.
Thanks for dropping by the studio today.
Come back and watch how the art work will be created over the next weeks.
