Transformation – Affirmation – Renewal
Some Reflections
–
by Lynda McKinney Lambert
I am working each day on the revised and expanded version of my first book –
Concerti: Psalms for the Pilgrimage,
I begin to think about the work of transformation and renewal not only of the book manuscript, but of my life.
Last week, I celebrated my 77th birthday.
It was a joyous day with a visit from my sister and her husband, lunch with them in our favorite restaurant, and later in the day visits from other family members. With each birthday, I think it is a time for transformative thoughts about our life. This is a good time to look back on the past and consider how we might want to make changes to expand, or alter the days ahead.
I think of each day as a new opportunity to transform and renew my life. I think it is wise to live each day as if I knew it was my final day on earth. During the day, I pause to think about why I am here, and what my mission is. We are all people who were created by our loving God. And the first chapter in Genesis lets us know our purpose: we were created to reflect God’s Glory. Knowing this makes a difference in how we live our days, and what we do throughout each day. We all are called for a purpose and have a place in this world – if you have not yet discovered your own purpose or calling, I can tell you all you have to do is
ASK HIM!
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Meditation on Psalm 91 –
Reformulated Prayer + God’s Word
On peaceful summer days like this one
I am resting quietly here in your shadow.
Shaddai.
Yes, it is true.
I am singing a song for you today.
I sing because you keep me safe and
protect me from anything that would harm me.
Each day I hear news reports
about a deadly virus
thrust out into the world
to trap and kill us.
But I am not afraid because
you protect me
You are like the house wren
crouched down into her nest
in the hanging geranium plant
on my porch.
You hide me in a secure place
where no predator can snatch me away
because you hold me tight.
When I am singing
you softly whisper to me –
“Don’t be afraid of the dark nights
of contagious diseases
or painful death from plagues.
No matter how many bad reports you hear
treacherous people or diseases cannot touch you
because you are protected
by me personally.
Look only at Me.
See what I will do.
I’ve already sent powerful angels who
surround you and lift you up and away.
Angels are holding your hands,
guiding you safely away from treacherous places.
Pay no attention to anything that threatens you.
I hear you call my name, and
I never fail to come to deliver to you.”
El Shaddai!
You gift me with a long life
filled with satisfaction.
