Favorite form of adult pajamas: Kimono, soft pant, romper or Winnie-the-pooh style?
Warm weather, I wear long or short gowns that are soft and fluid such as this gown by Aria.
On wintry days I like matching soft knit top and bottom sets that look like sportswear.
I love Kimonos and wear them over my gowns when I take the dogs out in the mornings. I like Kimonos for daywear and have them in a variety of materials and colors. I have some that I knitted as well. I like designer clothing and fine fabrics. No matter whether it is for sleeping in or wearing out to dinner. I prefer quality clothing. Yes, I am picky!
What time do you wake-up in the morning?
I have an internal clock and don’t need an alarm or wake-up call. I am so full of ideas and thoughts for creative work. They come to me during my sleep time so I wake up excited to begin the new day.
Typically, my days begin between 3 and 5 am. Once I open my eyes, the day begins. I am wide awake, alert. I walk the dogs first of all. After we come back from our walk, I feed the cats. I open my computer, make my Caribou coffee, and get started.
Much of my writing is created before daylight. But, for my art, I work in the afternoons mostly.
Your favorite chore to do is _____ .
Since you use the word “chore,” that seems to imply doing something that is not pleasant but necessary but not anything that is artistic or creative.
I love to clean my house! Does that sounds strange? I am most happy in an orderly, peaceful, clean home. I want my rooms to look and smell fresh and clean. My favorite place to visit is an art gallery. I create the feeling of being in a living art gallery with original art displayed on walls and pedestals, windows and tables. I am most content when my home feels pristine, looks imaginative, is colorful and meets my concept of a beautiful space. I have 2 dogs and 6 cats, so the house is cleaned every day.
Least favorite chore to do is _____ . Why?
Opening and processing the daily mail is my least favorite chore. I absolutely freeze at the thought of doing any sort of office work. I’d be the secretary from hell. In fact, here is a poem from my book,
Concerti: Psalms for the Pilgrimage, 2003.
I wrote this poem while working a job I hated. I worked for 3 weeks as an office manager for a small business in California. I think I must have lost my mind when I accepted that job. What was I thinking?
The poem lets you know what I was thinking about and how it ended. Enjoy!

When can I expect delivery?
Make out a purchase order,
Please hold – two lines ringing.
Let the water and the blood…
Enter the orders in the computer,
A barrage of papers stacked on my desk.
Here’s another one.
From Thy riven side which flowed…
I want my parts today and that’s it, period!
We sent it out by Express courier.
Eat your lunch quickly – get back to work.
Be of sin the double cure…
My back is aching.
Here are the parts you ordered.
I hear the shushing – air surging through machinery.
Cleanse from guilt and make me pure…

Put the paychecks out at noon.
Don’t forget to turn the computer off.
Brahms is in the background.
I am out the door at 4.

Tell us about a home-cooked meal that you cannot forget.
Well, I’d rather speak about the birthday cake. I always loved to bake a special cake for my children’s birthdays. We were having a special dinner for our daughter, Heidi, one year. I went into the kitchen to get her cake and I thought I’d do something really surprising with it. I remembered seeing some cakes on TV where they were sparkling and seemed like they were on fire. I lit some sparklers that were in the kitchen – left over from the Fourth of July. Inserted them on top of the cake and proudly walked into the dining room with a sparkler cake.
What I did not know is that the sparklers throw off metal that is melted – so the entire cake was being sprayed with metal. Instead of people at the table laughing and being delighted, they were horrified and screaming to get the sparklers off the cake. Yes, I learned about sparklers in a new way that day. And, the cake was utterly a mess – but, oh, so memorable.
I guess I can say, I would also be the cake decorator from hell.
Bonus: Is tired the new norm?
Certainly, “tired” is not a word I want to wear. I consider it a lazy word and I could never be considered lazy. To be tired is to be “bored.” Never! I choose to embrace an abundant life. I think it’s imnportant to take breaks and to let the body get refreshed numerous times during the day. I rest when I feel the need to take a rest. Tired is something that happens when the body is ignored. I like breaking the day into different activities so that I remain balanced.
