“Bouquet”
April is National Poetry Month
National Poetry Month – Day 3
“Bouquet”
by Lynda McKinney Lambert, 2013
The finest bouquet
is a gift of the spirit –
small scraps, bright fabrics,
wild flowers and Butterflies
spilled from a yellow tote bag.
Carved pieces of abalone shells
glitter among golden beads –
dance in a circle
surround a porcelain medallion,
painted with wild roses and sunshine.
Fresh leafy green salads
blueberries and salty cashews
conversations and laughter
surrounded our mid-summer table.
We opened the amber glass bottle,
drank dark Blackberry wine
we raised our glasses –
“Greetings – to the hot summer day
“Proust!”

The Bouquet of flowers in this photo is from my sister, Patti McKinney Gibson, who grows them in her gardens.
Each year she brings a bouquet from her gardens for my birthday on August 27th.
My you, dear reader, be blessed with fresh bouquets of flowers at special times in your life, too!
