This week, I had to admit that 2 of my pairs of Birkenstocks were ready to retire.  I purchased them around 2005 in Germany.  I worn them just about every day for the past sixteen years !

The time comes when I need to just buy a new pair.

The two pair I discarded are  the famous and reliable Arizona style – Now, I needed to replace them. I decided to get a pair of Oiled Leather in the Arizona Style.  My feet are already anticipating the arrival of my new Birkies!

I received my first pair of Birkenstock sandals in 1990 when a friend came to visit me at West Virginia University.   My friend was coming from upstate New York, and I asked her to purchase a pair of Birkenstocks for me and bring them when  she came to visit. The rest is history.

I’ve been wearing Birkenstock shoes since 1990.

For many years, when I was traveling in Germany each summer, I purchased my Birkenstocks there and brought them home with me.  Since I retired, my favorite place to get my Birkenstock’s is at Birkenstock Express, by mail.
