I’ll begin with some news from my blog, Walking by Inner Vision. I publish 3 articles each week.

August’s final “Garden Song” is “Haiku to a California Mountain.” https://www.lyndalambert.com/wordpress/garden-songs/
Most Garden Song poems are inspired by my gardens at home. Most are haiku or short poems.
The final one for August was written as I was riding in a car and viewing the mountains in Yosemite National Park in the early 90s.

As I publish this August Newsletter, there are
30 memoirs and stories completed. My goal for the year is to complete fifty. This is a collection of non-fiction memoirs and personal essays from my long life experiences. I just celebrated my 79th birthday on August 27.
As I write,
I remember so many pieces of my journey.
On August 5, I posted “Life with Beaver.” This is a newly revised version of the original story that was my first published story. I was paid for it, too! This story appeared in American Cage-Bird Magazine, April 1981. Read it here –

~Life at Home ~
I continue the shifting and fixing at the house.
The last phase of the installation of the ceramic porcelain tile is completed. Next, I removed a vintage jelly cupboard. Now that kitchen wall displays three of my award-winning paintings. The Garden Cabbage Series was painted in the early 80s. This series appeared in American Artist Magazine and is a feature story on my art in 1984. I’ve always loved these paintings, and now, visitors can see them when they enter our house. The response to them has been fun to observe. The typical comment upon entering is, “Oh, WOW!”
I have a team of helpers who make it possible for me to do all the creative activities.
~ My Art Life ~
My art submission for InSights22 was accepted. In early June, I received a call to tell me my entry was also the winner of First Place in the crafts category. The piece is a wide cuff bracelet done in encrusted bead working. I named this bracelet Christina de Pisan’s Prayer Bracelet. I often title artworks in honor of or in memory of notable women. This is the 8th year for my artwork to be included in the exhibition and the 8th year of received an award in the show. It is sponsored by American Printing House for the Blind, Louisville, KY. It is an honor to be included in this exhibition with other blind and visually impaired artists across America.
So far, I have completed the first four pieces of the Show Queen’s Series of mixed-media fibers. I created one talisman, and I named it “The Snow Queen’s Talisman.” It is breathtaking, with sparkle and wintry beauty for the theme.
I have three well pieces to mount on the archival stretched gallery-wrapped canvases. They are finished and just have to be mounted and ready to hang. I call them The Snow Queen’s World, #1, #2, and #3. Each is a stand-alone work of art and relatively small and personal, like the gems they are.
I am working on The Snow Queen’s Magic Bracelet right now. It’s a cuff bracelet, and that will finish the series. Once I get the bracelet done, I will move on to begin the SPRING series.
A Note from the Professor’s Journal:
Why do Artists Work in a Series?
When I am making art, I expect it will be on exhibition in a museum or gallery.
Working in a series indicates that I am a professional artist and writer.
I explore a theme in a variety of ways. The exploration develops insight and clarity in the process of discoveries.
This thoughtful work ethic separates the amateur from the professional.
