Now we are three…
Four Pennsylvania Poets
Chapbook. Copyright 1998.
In 1986, four poets in western Pennsylvania began meeting together to write and talk about poetry.
In 1998, the women created a chapbook. Each woman selected four of her poems for this chapbook.
Their chapbook, Now we are three. Four Pennsylvania Poets, was printed in December 2000.
The women are:
Danae: Ida Barton, PL
Jean Cooper
June Molohon Kerstetter
Lynda J. Lambert
I will record this chapbook and share it with the world through my blog at this time.
I am the sole surviving member of this little poetry group and I want to honor their memory by sharing the poems they wrote. We called ourselves, “The Poetry Ladies.”
You may listen to me read the “Presentation,” and first poem, “Commendation,” by Danae: Ida Barton in this post.
Click onto the 2 sound recordings below to listen.
“Presentation” gives the information about the women and how we began to meet regularly, for over 15 years. Ida Barton’s words are still relevant and even more meaningful to me now as I read them about THIRTY-FOUR years after we began meeting together.
This is the value of a small,
intimate writing group.
Below: the first poem, “Commendation,” by Danae: Ida Barton.
In my next blog post, I’ll continue to read the poems as they appear in the chapbook.
We remember our dear friends – by the words they left behind.
