My Spring Tune-up Song

I was thinking about the happiness I found wherever I happened to be in this world.
I read this quote today:
“Find your place on the planet. Dig in, and take responsibility from there.” — Gary Snyder
I enjoyed many opportunities to travel to delightful places in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Puerto Rico, Germany, Czech Republic, and Austria – over my long career as an author and artist.
My place on this planet is in the small rural Village of Wurtemburg, in Western Pennsylvania. This is where I patiently watch the signs of the awakening of a new season that is coming soon. I appreciate the season I am in now, and I will anticipate the change to the new season at the appointed time. I dig in. From here, I will take responsibility for each day and the activities that come with it.
What can we do on days that don’t feel satisfying? We all have them, by the way.
We all have those days when nothing seems to be in synch, when it feels anxious or tired.
Why are some days more complete and joyful than other days?
How can a person be “up to speed” and ready for the day?
The term that came to mind is “Tune-up.”
Roman Pohorecki captures the spirit of a fine-tuned car.
When I think about this personally, I think of a beautiful sports car.
I’ve always appreciated the beauty and power of a sports car.
Like a fine sports car, we might need a tune-up~
Is there anything more spectacular than a beautifully designed sports car?
There is something about them that stops us in our tracks so we can stop what we are doing and stand still to admire their beauty.
I asked myself, what makes a race car run smoothly?
it’s the regular, scheduled tune-up.
We are so much like a finely tuned-up vehicle.
I like the IDEA of taking a step towards making THIS DAY a GREAT DAY.
One of the things that I do that gives me a pick-up is to begin to sing. Out loud.
Do I feel like singing sometimes? No!
But I go ahead and open my mouth and let the sounds flow out of it.
Before I know it, I am feeling so much better and I have a renewed sense of energy.
Singing is a step of faith – a way of declaring that despite any negative feelings I have, I believe in joy.
Here’s a little song that I sing every morning as I begin my day.
I sing it during the day as I think about the wonderful day I have been given.
I clap my hands and dance through the house.
I raise my arms to the sky and sing this song to God as I walk the dogs through the woods along the creek.
I know that all of nature is singing the praises to God every day.
I begin to sing this song as I walk the dogs outside
in the darkness of the morning,
in the afternoon breeze, or the last rays of evening.
The neat thing is that the song stays with me all day long. Yes. I find myself breaking out with a song at various times of the day, too. I just stop what I am doing and I begin to sing. This song wakes me at night, and it is in my spirit when I open my eyes in the morning.
Do you know how GOOD it is to SING to God?
Singing praises to our Father God, our Messiah, and the Holy Spirit – turns every day into a joyful journey. We are HAPPY WARRIORS!
I am a child of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We are Happy Warriors.
For 2021, I chose the word, “Clarity,” to be my ONE WORD for the year.
This commitment led me to begin reading the book of Ephesians in the New Testament of the Holy Bible at the beginning of this year.
Another discovery I made this year is that we are to “Put on the Full Armor of God” each morning.
I do it each day – and on the rare days that I forgot to do it – well, lets just say, I know it because the day will not be the same as if I had put on the Armor.
It won’t be long before I am very aware that I have not put on the protection I need – and I will do it quickly once I make that discovery.
You can read verses 13 – 17
Here.
We belong to the King and HE gives us pleasures beyond anything we could think of or ask for. It’s true.
No matter what is going on all around us, we keep our eyes on our KING and we are blessed coming and going.
I begin my day with a song –
“I will enter YOUR gates with Thanksgiving in my heart.
I will enter YOUR gates with praise.
‘this is the day that the Lord has made.
I will rejoice and be glad.”
Do you have a particular SONG that you sing as you begin your day?
How does it make a difference for you when you sing during the day?
When I was a very young mother, I worked a couple of evenings a week in a retail store.
I loved being there and I loved helping people find what they needed. Since I worked in the FABRIC DEPARTMENT, it was a JOB MADE IN HEAVEN for ME.
I started making clothing as a young child – and fabric was so thrilling for me to be surrounded with when I was working in the store.
Yet, some times when we were not busy, the time would seem to go so slow. Those times felt like time was dragging on.
At times like that, I would start to sing a song to myself – not out loud.
I imagined that I was putting a record on, and I was listening to a song.
By doing this I was able to keep my heart happy and be at peace inside.
Think about giving yourself a Tune-up today by singing a song of praise to God.
Singing keeps our heart happy as we go through the day.
In addition to our songs, we are putting on the Armor of God each day, too.
That is a winning combination for a good day.
