“Yes! I Sing a Litany of My Favorite Words”
“Yes! I Sing a Litany of My Favorite Words”
by Lynda McKinney Lambert, 2016
Autumn in November reawakens
Baroque memories at twilight.
Constellated time peels off the layers.
Done!
Erasures revealed endless
fabrications
garnered in dusty corners among
hushed vowels and
illuminated adjectives.
Joyfully, I count my verbal
keepsakes – a lengthy
list of favorite words. The
Muse of my seventy-third year
never tolerated nouns that are
obscure. I often reflect on our
Perpetual
queries about long-forgotten
Red roses or gifts from a distant
Summertime.
Timelessness remains an illusion
until liturgical prayers begin at
Vespers.
Warm voices lift my spirit. In Greek,
Xenia, reminds me to be generous.
Yes! I sing a litany of my Favorite Words.
Zeitgeist notations of my serpentine years.
