My Hoya plant…
belonged to my Grandmother, Ida Matilda Kiesling Kirker.
When she died, the plant was handed down to my mother, Esther Luella Kirker McKinney.
Mom died in March 2007, and the plant came to live at my home.
The plant sits on a white wooden pedestal that my grandfather, James Addison Kirker made for Grandma.
Grandpap was a carpenter and the couple had 7 children.
My Hoya plant is part of my family story.

Forget about watering your plants with tap water!
Rain water will make your plants GREEN.
Plants look greener after it rains since air is 78 percent nitrogen and nitrogen , above all other elements, is what makes plants green. Some of this element, in its nitrate and ammonium forms, comes down in the rain and is immediately taken in by plants through roots and leaves. Rainwater also contains more oxygen than tap water.
I love to water my plants with the rainwater that I catch in 5-gallon containers on the patio in the back of our home. I think this is one of the key tips to raising beautiful plants in your home as well as outside. The more rainwater you use, the healthier your plants are.
In winter, you can bring in snow and let it melt down- use that for watering your house plants over the winter months.
