The Poem
stony paths
disappear beneath my feet
I am the darkness
of ginkgo trees
and indigo skies
*
The Backstory
This poem is a perspective of the landscape and my own recognition of time and season in Western Pennsylvania. I live in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. As I walk my dogs, I am paying attention to every detail, sound, and sight. I want to remember the sensations so I can bring them back home with me. The aspects of nature are so subtle as it mingles with my own body and life.
Life happens in layers of imagery. It is multi-layered, and this sense of the passing time is what I distill in my poetry.

The Backstory
This poem is a perspective of winter time in Western Pennsylvania where I have lived my entire life. As I walk my dogs, I am paying attention to every detail, sound, and sight.
I focus on the color, red, in my world and in my memories.
I combined memories of people, with our landscape. Life happens in layers of imagery. It is multi-layered, and this sense of the passing of time is what I distill in my poetry.
