Bye-Bye 2017 – Hello 2018
Say it isn’t so!
Is 2017 almost another page in History?
This is my FINAL ARTICLE for 2017
and my DREAMING PRAYER for 2018.
FIRST:
Thank You to EACH person and organization who celebrated my ART and WRITING in 2017.
This photo of me was taken by my sister, Patti McKinney Gibson, at the Hyatt Regency Louisville KY in October when I received a First Place Award in CRAFTS – for my mixed-media fibers talisman, “The Dragon’s Healing Breast Plate.” I was there for InSights17, an International Exhibition of art sponsored by American Printing House for the Blind.
2017 marked my THIRD TIME included in this prestigious juried art exhibition. It featured ART WORK by artists who are blind and visually impaired. I am happy for this honor by the JUAROR and thankful for the First Place Award I received for my mixed-media fiber art.
My writing life was exciting this year, too. My personal life story is featured in the newly released book, Artful Alchemy, edited by Anne Copeland – DLD Books, Denver, Colorado. The book features the work of 23 artists who have physical challenges. I am one of the 2 blind artists in this book.
My latest book, Walking by Inner Vision: Stories & Poems – DLD Books –
came out in February. It is gorgeous. I did most of the photography for this book, and for the cover. My book has 16 poems and 27 stories in it.

In addition, many of my poems and stories were published this year in a variety o f literary magazines, blogs, and I was even featured n the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) Annual Report. I am a Peer Adviser with this organization. THANK YOU to every editor!
One of my stories was nominated for the Best of the Net Award for 2016 – 2017.
My first chapbook, “first snow,” is ready to send out to publishers in 2018.
FINALLY, I am working on another book of new and selected poems for 2018.

SECOND:
My DREAM for 2018
I have a DREAMING PRAYER for 2018.
I want to have my new book, Walking by Inner Vision: Stories & Poems, published in Braille AND made available through the National Library Service or another reading service , so that other blind people fan read it in an accessible format. This is my BIG DREAM for 2018.
I have no idea how to do this! I do not have such contacts at this time, that I am aware of. But, that will not deter my dream from becoming a reality in 2018. I believe that the “right” person will come my way and this dream will happen in 2018 so that many blind people will be able to enjoy my book in the future.
This is my DREAMING PRAYER for 2018. As with everything in my life, I leave it in God’s hands today.
Do YOU have a special desire in your heart today?
I would love to hear from you about how God is working in your life today, and what you want to transpire in your life in 2018. Be sure to drop me a line or two about your own Dreaming Prayer. Each morning I pray for friends – let me know if you need my prayers.
