Clarity
The Journey in 2021
by Lynda McKinney Lambert
“Clarity is power.” ~ Anthony Robbins
When the New Year arrived, I picked out my “One Word” for 2021. For the 7th year in a row, the word arrived on time. For 2o21, my “One Word” is Clarity. You can read about my first thoughts on this year Here.
When a word comes to me, my first responsibility is to begin searching out the meaning of the term to understand what the word holds within its core. I have to unpack the meaning of the word by going to primary sources, as I do with everything I write. A WORD is a powerful force that I never take lightly.
Take a look at the ROOT of this word – I was delighted to see what ELSE this word holds for me.
Reading the explanation, below, was like discovering a basket full of gemstones – each one a new glorious and bright color, texture, and heft in my hand. Just look at all of the splendor and brightness this word holds for me. Knowing the full meaning and the origin of a word is well worth the effort to check it out. The history of my word is a wonderful discovery!

clarity (n.)
c. 1300, clarte, clerte “brightness, radiance; glory, splendor,” from Old French clerte, clartet (Modern French clarté) “clarity, brightness,” from Latin claritas “brightness, splendor,” also, of sounds, “clearness;” figuratively “celebrity, renown, fame,” from clarare “make clear,” from clarus “clear”
I begin to imagine standing on the edge of a rock pool watching the water swirling around as it flows down stream. I live on the edge of the Connoquenessing Creek in The Village of Wurtemburg, in western PA. The sound of the flowing waters is music in the air in all seasons.

Clearness or lucidity as to perception or understanding is my focus this year.
Knowing the ROOT and ORIGIN of a word is KEY to Finding MEANING.
I am thinking of the clearness of pure water as I contemplate how clarity will change my inner life and my working environment.
To begin my walk with Clarity, I took an in-depth look at my website. I held it up to the standard of clarity. What I saw was cluttered, indistinct, and random. I set to work on downsizing the website and blog immediately.
Our websites show who we are, what we care about, and our world view. With this firmly in mind, I started chopping away at the tangled mess to bring clarity to my cyber-world. “Less is more, “I kept in my mind as I expelled the clutter.
“Simplicity improves clarity. Concise communications boost understanding and retention.”
~ Jamie Glass, CMO + President, Artful Thinkers
I whittled down my pages to reflect my specific interests.
My creative inspirations reflect my Judeo-Christian faith and world view.
Concise and clear.
