Brains – Yosemite – GAS
TMI Tuesday: August 18, 2020
Come play TMI Tuesday Then go read what other bloggers have to say.
Welcome my sweets to another TMI Tuesday
1. What is the biggest part of your body?
My brain – I’ve been stuffing it since birth on August 27, 1943, and I feel like my brain (memory) is bottomless. My daughter told me my mind is like a steel trap. This kind of memory means I may forgive you but I will never forget what you did. Just sayin’
2. What is the best bad decision you have ever made?
I seldom ever pass up an opportunity that is good – but in 1993, I passed up the wonderful opportunity to be the Artist in Residence at Yosemite National Park. I was selected for a month-long residency to create tapestries from imagery and materials in the Yosemite landscape.
Photo: “Party on the Allegheny River,” Fiber Art, with Natural materials, by Lynda McKinney Lambert.
In a stupid moment of bad decision-making, I gave up the residency in California to accept an executive director position at an art institute in Pennsylvania.
I’ve always regretted that I did not spend that month at Yosemite because I never went back to live in California again. I moved across the country to take the position. The good part is that by taking the job in PA, it opened up another OPPORTUNITY 4 years later – I got a position that I had prepared myself to do through 12 years of full-time university studies –
My PLAN A for my life was to be a professor of fine arts and humanities. After 4 years of administrative duties at the art institute, I got my dream job. I’d sill love to see Yosemite again though. Things always work out when you pray for them to fall into place even when you make bad choices sometimes.
3. What is the silliest reason you got into a fight with someone?
Someone swore at me – and tried to block my path as I was coming down a stairway. Big mistake on his part.
4. What is your favorite thing about your best friend?
I’ve had a number of “best friends,” over the years – but overall, it is a person who is upbeat and positive, knowledgeable about literature and fine art, and loves to learn new things.
I avoid “GASSERS.” They are needy people who rob you of time and energy and talk constantly about things you don’t “GIVE A S___ (fill in the blank) ” about (aka G.A.S.). I can spot a GASSER real QUICK – and I run the other way. Be on the lookout for people who want to do nothing but waste other people’s time and energy. You don’t need them in your life.
5. If 5 men take about 3 hours to dig 3 holes, how long will it take for 2 men to dig half a hole?
Long enough for one man to open his mouth to speak – about a second. Repeat: You don’t need this person in your life! This is a question you done GAS about. See my response to Question 4.
Bonus: Would you rather be itchy or sticky for the rest of your life?
Definitely not itchy – I usually get poison ivy all over me every summer because I pull it out of my gardens – so I know what itchy all over is like. But, sticky might be OK, b ecasue usually if I am sticky, all I have to do is wash the sticky substance off. It is not painful but just annoying. Itchy is on the pain scale and who wants to be in pain from itching?

For your pleasure today, here is a poem I wrote:
*
“Along the Road”
Not all days in August
are sunny and warm.
There are those days
that are too dismal
even for photos.
Lonely days
that come with old age,
Dark days
driving alone
when old memories
mingle among
the Queen Ann’s Lace
and Chicory
blooming along the road.
