My BOOK EVALUATION ARRIVED
by Lynda McKinney Lambert
What Evaluation?
This year I entered my book, Walking by Inner Vision: Stories & Poems in a contest.
I sent it off and then I forgot all about it.
Today, I received the evaluation that the book received from Judge #36 – and I held my breath in anticipation of what the juror’s remarks might be. It’s always intimidating to send our work out for professional evaluation – and this was my first time to do that.
What would the evaluation be like, I wondered.
Below is a brief commentary for my entry in the
28th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards
Walking by Inner Vision: Stories & Poems
DLD Books 2017.
Entry Title: Walking By Inner Vision: Stories & Poems
Author: Lynda McKinney Lambert
Judge Number: 36
Entry Category: Life Stories
A few quick notes~
- “Judge #36, 28th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards.”
- This book could have been one long pity party, and, indeed, the author would be justified to indulge in mourning her loss of sight. Yet once the introduction anchors the reader to tell about the author’s journey, the book becomes one edifying entry after another. I found the poetry to be excellent, and the pictures she paints of each month are so true to life the reader senses the weather changing with each season. The stories she tells are entertaining and heartwarming, and her insights are worth contemplating. Yes, January truly is a state of mind!
- The extra materials of postcards, inserts, and a business card are appreciated and market the author in an appealing way. All in all, a joy to read and to treasure.
- Lynda McKinney Lambert gained an instant fan in this reviewer with her book, WALKING BY INNER VISION: STORIES AND POEMS. Her amazing and dynamic spirit emanates from every page. The reader senses a gentle and humble spirit, the type of person we can all only hope to meet. The cover, with the closeup of a flower, is vibrant and eyecatching. The author is introduced to the reader on the back cover as an artist with profound sight loss. The reader appreciates the lovely photo of the author displaying what is presumably a piece of art she created. Amazing!
The scores in each section are rated on a 1-5 scale with 5 being the most points the judge can give for that category.
